Grim, it doesn't have to be the same player but it could effect the salaries. Even if the two minor players only had a difference in 100,000 dollars in salary it could have been the cause of the game telling you to correct your finances. You can check the GM desk and if you are over budget, it will tell you so there. Then you can decide how much salary you need to move.

Maybe I don't understand the rules around this process in the nhl....and will admit that if everything is working correctly and it is just me getting it wrong.  I always thought a players salary was counted against the budget whether on injured reserved or not.  Therefore, I would have thought the players salary was already hitting the payroll before he was made active again.  If that was the case, putting him back on the roster should not have all of a sudden cause a salary issue.  The player that was injured was a decent player where as the farm player was low cost.

So if salaries do go on and off the books if on injured reserve, then maybe I have it wrong.  Just have t seen that issue ever happen in the nhl.

After re-reading a document on NHL salary cap, it is possible that things are working as designed.  From what I gather, you have to be in compliance with the cap rules throughout the season...however, you are provided relief of the cap when you bring up a replacement player to replace an injured player.  But once the injured player comes back, you must comply again with the salary cap.  Both active and injured players always count against the cap according to the rules.

So based on this, maybe I did send down a different player than I originally brought up, who had a higher salary, pushing me over the cap once my injured player returned.  This is something I will have to pay much more attention to the next time the situation arises.

Just some additional questions when anyone has time to answer.

1)  On some screens/reports, such as the tournament calendar, it says that games happen on a certain turn, such as turn #42.  Looking at the main screen, I did not see anywhere where the current turn # is displayed on the screen.  Is this listed somewhere so I know where the current date is in relation to the turn #?

2)  Is there any way to edit existing arena names?  I see you can do this when creating a new arena, but was wondering if an existing one could be changed.

I don't think it's listed anywhere but one turn is one day of simming through games. So it's easy to figure out but can be a drag checking the calender frequently if you lose track.

You might be able to change the arena name at the start of the game, I don't think it can be done during the game and I don't see a place for it in the editor. I've never tried moving a team or creating a team so I don't know how much control you have over things like that.

I just tried restarting a game to see if editing an arena was possible, I don't think it is.

As you can see here, GM Hockey is far from being a new game:
http://download.cnet.com/GM-Hockey-2009/3000-2117_4-10899832.html

Despite remaining underground, we had very good feedback from all over the world since 2002.

I am willing to answer your questions, but all I am getting at this point from you is agressive feedback. You spend a lot of energy on a game that you don't seem to like.

At this point, I would suggest you to stick to EHM or other competitors. We are offering something completely different that passes the test of time.

But I am still open at this point to create a FAQ sheet somewhere this week.

Phoenix, I really don't get your feedback or comments at all.  Where is this aggressive feedback I am providing?  Is it considered aggressive because I have had a lot of questions while playing the game?  Is it aggressive because I was actually playing your game a lot in order to try and learn it?  I have never demanded that my questions immediately be answered.  I did not set out to ask any pre-set number of questions, they just came up while I was playing and I asked them.  As I have explained a bunch of times in this thread, all I have been doing is asking questions that aren't clear to me as a new player of the game.  I have also provided information on some possible issues with the game (which some of them may not actually be issues) but thought good to bring up in case they were.  I really don't understand why everyone is sensitive to questions being asked (or the number of them being asked) that I think are fair questions about functionality in the game that some new players like myself may not understand.  How can wanting to know more about how it plays be considered aggressive and negative in anyway?  If I have these questions, I have to believe at least one other potential customer of the game might have the same questions which they would find responses useful in their evaluation of the game.  I just get the feeling that my questions being asked aren't easily answered for some reason since they have caused such an issue.  I am sure new players like myself would welcome a FAQ/manual to help better understand all the features within the game if that is still something doable.

Lastly, I have never called into question the newness/history or success of this game, I am sure your customers enjoy the game, which is great.  I downloaded the demo and was evaluating the game because I am a hockey fan and thought it would be potentially a good game to play based on what I knew about it.  When I made the one comment about giving up on the game, it was not because of the game itself, but more of frustration on how my questions were being scrutinized so much.  I enjoy participating in communities and it was starting to feel negative for some reason.  I invested more time in the demo after having discussions with the other community member that was helping with some answers to make sure I gave it a full go.   It really is a shame that this turned into something bigger than it really was ever intended.  At the end of the day, I was just a hockey fan looking for some clarity about the game mechanics so I could better understand how to use the features of the game.  But based on your suggestion to go and find another competitor game (which I never brought up any competitors in these discussions), doesn't appear that I am welcomed in the community...albeit I am surprised you would make that statement to a potential buyer.

It's clear to me there must be some miscommunication between us in these discussions since I am not sure how it ever got to this point....but if you prefer for me not to purchase the game, then I guess that is what I will do.

I think where the confusion/miscommunication came in is your questions were mixed in with bugs/flaws/things to work on. Both of these things are fine and noone is over sensitive about issues but when they are mixed together it can come across the wrong way.

We probably need to have a questions thread and seperately a "tips on improving future versions" thread.

Sorry it's gotten off to a rough start for you here. Play the game, ask questions and be merry!

Once I release the french Multiplayer later tonight, I'll work on a FAQ sheet.

Grim.Reaper is right in a sense that new users may feel completely lost. Everything has an impact/purpose in the game and knowing about those effects will help improve the experience.

PostSubject: Re: On Going Questions   Sun 2 Feb - 13:26

Happy Sunday morning everyone,

I think we need to come back to the basics of the post and the reason we are all here.
We all want a great game that we can waste our time away in front of our PC, Laptop or wherever we play.
With GM Hockey Legacy you get exactly this. You get a great game for a very reasonable price. Is it the perfect game? We think we came close to it but of course we are able and willing to learn. So we are doing everything we can to answer all questions in a way that make sense and are beneficial for everyone.
We will do the same with Grim.Reaper's questions. Give it some time please so we can give you good answers.
I can tell you that much, everything in the game is there for a reason and nothing is just for fun (except some pictures Sourire) but we don't think we should answer every single question in such detail that you should not need to try anymore.
As a simple explanation, a quick answer to your travel question.
If you want to go from A to B and have options, which one do you take? The one that stresses you the least I would assume. Just put common sense in these things and it will open up a whole new world of gaming for you.
Give us some time to come up with a manual like FAQ section.

CSC

Thanks Phoenix, and your statement "Grim.Reaper is right in a sense that new users may feel completely lost. Everything has an impact/purpose in the game and knowing about those effects will help improve the experience." is exactly what I was trying to accomplish with my questions....I figure all these features had an impact on the game since they existed within the game and wanted to understand how they did to ensure I got the best experience out of the game.

I will be the first to apologize if my comments came across any other way besides what is stated here....

Thanks CSC....I have been in these forums and evaluating the demo for this very reason....I am a hockey fan and wanted to spend my time wasting away in front of my PC on a good game.  I do agree that I am not looking to understand every intricate detail/secret of the game which may give away some of the fun exploring it, but understanding the fundamentals are important so we at least have a basic understanding of what to do.  As you said it, I fully expected all the features had an impact on the game's outcome, otherwise I know there would be no purpose for it to be included in the game.

I look forward to the FAQ when it has a chance to be completed....

No worries Grim.Reaper.

Remember, I am the tortured artist who think he is the best thing that happen to humanity since Jesus Christ.

csc is here to insure that we remain (including me) focused on the technical aspects of the game.

Hope the FAQ sheet will improve your overall experience with the game.

PostSubject: Re: On Going Questions   Tue 4 Feb - 17:15

I wanted to touch on some things discussed here, features I never bothered with but have played around with them a bit since the discussion in this thread.

Meeting/talking with a player, in previous versions when I used this feature, I never noticed it having a major impact i.e. improving a players attitude from sad to happy. It seems to have a bigger impact in legacy. I've talked to a few players in the past few days and seen a huge difference in attitude.

I still haven't messed with game strategies a lot but unhappy with my created players offensive production, I designated him for very long shifts and offensive shooter. Maybe it's all in my head but it did seem to make a difference at least with the amount of shots he was taking.

I've been tempted to hire a psychologist and try to improve my players life quality but am too scared of a negative consequence. Maybe I'll get up the courage one day.
